Guidelines and uniform procedures are intended to help medical staff cope with (intensive) medical challenges on a daily basis and to assist in the care of patients.
The emergence of SARS-CoV-2 in recent weeks and months has shown that while the virus does not discriminate between people in terms of infectivity and spread, this is often exactly what matters when it comes to inpatient or intensive care.
Here, beyond parameters such as age or BMI, it is important to identify patterns and parameters that enable medical staff to draw individual risk models and conclusions from available data – from patients for patients. This gap could be filled by analytical methods in order to make the best possible use of the often critical factor of time in treatment and to enable medical staff to provide individualized therapy in a global pandemic.
